Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist

Join Redeemer Health as a CDI Specialist and play a pivotal role in elevating clinical documentation standards across our hospital. This is more than coding — it's about making sure patient records accurately reflect the complexity of care delivered.
You’ll work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and coding professionals to ensure that every diagnosis and treatment is captured clearly and compliantly. Your expertise supports not just financial accuracy, but also the quality scores, reporting, and care decisions that follow.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct concurrent reviews of patient charts to validate clinical documentation.
- Ensure records reflect accurate SOI (Severity of Illness), ROM (Risk of Mortality), and medical necessity using ICD-10/DRG standards.
- Query providers in real-time for clarification or documentation improvement.
- Serve as a liaison between coding, clinical, and quality teams.
- Apply clinical validation processes to safeguard audit readiness and reimbursement.
- Participate in education efforts to elevate documentation quality across teams.
- Conduct reviews for denial prevention and clinical appeals.
What You Bring
Required Credentials & Experience
- RN, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, NP/APN, PA, or completion of medical school.
- CCDS or CDIP certification.
- 3+ years of clinical inpatient or coding experience, preferably in critical care or surgical settings.
- Proficiency in ICD-10, DRG logic, and clinical validation principles.
- Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to engage clinical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using 3M 360, CAC tools, or EMRs.
- Background in inpatient CDI, utilization review, or documentation education.
