Orthopedic Institute is currently recruiting a Revenue Cycle Manager. Orthopedic Institute has been serving the region for over 40 years offering excellent orthopedic care across South Dakota, Western Minnesota, and Western Iowa.

We focus solely on exceptional orthopedic care to broaden the reach and impact in this region. Our provider team has grown to include 16 orthopedic surgeons, two pain medicine physicians, one physiatrist, and 19 physician assistants/nurse practitioners and over 225 employees. We currently have locations in Sioux Falls, Brookings, Mitchell and Yankton and numerous outreach locations in the region.
Job Summary:
The Revenue Cycle Manager is responsible for the development, organization, and implementation of current and future strategies to obtain optimal results in all functions of the revenue cycle including, pre-registration, registration, payor and patient billing, processing payments, aggressive follow-up and appeals to minimize bad debt, improve cash flow, and manage the overall health of receivables. Responsible for managing staff and day-to-day operations of Medical Records, Credentialing, Patient Support (Registration), Coding and the Billing (Patient and Insurance Collection).
Job Responsibilities:
- The Manager will organize and plan new employee training, manage daily workflow, create, and manage staff schedules, address concerns, and troubleshoot problems for assigned areas.
- Manages staff performance by providing regular feedback, performance reviews, and one-on-one meetings. They will work closely with the HR Department when implementing documented corrective action measures. They will assist staff in addressing challenges and skill deficits. Concentrated effort to develop and mentor team leads and AR team members to allow for internal growth.
- Manages the revenue cycle department in various duties, such as account management, communications with insurance providers, collections, cash posting, contract analysis, and billing. Reviews all financial hardship applications and account write-offs. Reviews status of patient accounts to identify and resolve billing and processing problems in a timely fashion. Consistently monitor trends in all transactional activities to determine where efficiencies and results may be gained through process improvement
- Efficiently managing patient complaints in respect of billing and collections. Work with difficult client issues/insurance companies with calm reserve and confidence. of patient accounts to identify and resolve billing and processing problems in a timely fashion. - Effectively implement denial management reduction through process improvements, coordinating directly or indirectly, with internal team and offices to improve workflows and provide training and education. Meet with payor representatives for timely remediation of large denial or underpayment projects.
- Oversees Credentialling to ensure it is performed correctly and quickly to achieve maximum reimbursement for new providers.
- Analysis, development and implementation of the fee schedule annually. Ongoing additions as required throughout the year.
- Maintains several areas of the practice management system.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Two years of healthcare management experience preferred. Background in coding, registration, billing, or A/R required.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications as well as medical office software.
- Proven experience in healthcare billing.
- Sound knowledge of health insurance providers.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong management skills and assertive, visible leadership style.
- Requires use of problem solving and decision-making skills in a variety of complex situations.
- Strong quality assurance and critical thinking skills are necessary for success in this role.
